Tracie and Jim welcomed their first son into the world back in January, one month before his due date. After 13 days in the NICU, this little guy finally got to go home! And that meant that it was time to schedule his in-home newborn session– which are my favorite!
Nathaniel had two furry friends that joined in on our session– and it just so happened that the one cat came in to see what was going on while he had on his “crazy cat baby” onesie. It was too perfect! You’ll also see a few photos with a Star Wars theme (parent’s favorite) and a yoga bug book- which is perfect since Nathaniel’s mom owns Akron Yoga and Wellness! Side note: that’s the studio where I teach yoga!
I loved spending time with this now family of three and documenting this new chapter for them. There’s just something special about photographing a newborn in their home and capturing the little details. From the wall decor and books, to stuffed animals and blankets, I really love taking time during diaper changes and feedings to document the baby’s new surroundings. I firmly believe that those are the little details that will mean so much to the parents years down the road! I also will always insist on a few family portraits during a newborn session– and they always end up being some of my favorite photos from the whole session. The love and joy that I see when new parents look down at their baby is something truly beautiful!
I had a really hard time narrowing down the photos to share with you for this blog post! Keep scrolling to see my favorites from Nathaniel’s in-home newborn session!
