personal post: arizona desert anniversary photos

personal

I’m realizing that I haven’t done a great job at blogging personal photos on here, especially since the photos you’re about to see below are from last November. A few years back, I was publishing a personal post via my weekend round-ups each week. Understandably, life became busier and if I’m being honest, I never knew how much personal content was too much. But when I was looking back at older blog posts last weekend, I realized that those posts bring me so much joy and I love looking back on what I had photographed. It was a much-needed reminder that I love documenting my life just as much as I love photographing others!

Jason and I first went to Arizona in 2018 and fell in love with everything the state has to offer. From the gorgeous fall weather to the amazing cacti everywhere you look, I was pretty much in heaven the entire trip. When we were back in Arizona last fall for the United Conference, we decided that we would extend our stay past the four day conference and have a mini vacation. Since November is near the end of my busy season, it was the perfect time and place to rest and recharge!

Since Jason and I had celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary in October, we decided it would be fun to have updated photos taken in the desert. (Essentially my dream photo shoot!) I immediately emailed my friend Suzy Goodrick to see if we could get on her schedule while we were in town! We started to plan the session and I told her that all I wanted was the desert at sunset and to be surrounded by saguaros. Superstition Mountain, the location she chose for our photos was absolute perfection and I couldn’t believe it was real!

We couldn’t love our photos more if we tried! Suzy is so freaking talented and I have been obsessed with her work since I met her two years ago! I’m grateful to call her my friend and I will always love looking back at these photos from one of our favorite places! We printed SO many photos and it’s fun to have a little piece of Arizona on our walls in Ohio!

Having professional photos taken is always such a great reminder of what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera! And even though I send my clients tips and tricks for the best outfits for their photos, I still had moments where I was freaking out over what we were going to wear! I remember texting Suzy a few weeks prior and showing her our options– and then I went shopping three days before we left and found a dress on clearance that I fell in love with, and ended up switching the outfits we were going to wear. (Typical Allison.)

We can’t wait to be back in Arizona again soon! Enjoy my favorite photos from our time in the desert with Suzy!
